We knew, as we sow the forcast for the day shoving 40 C degrees, this is going to be the hardest of the Formula 1 - wish fulfilments. Three children, Krisztián (18) from Szeged, Máté (7), who is living in Siófok and Simon (14) from the capital had a common wish. They all adore the racing circus, so we battled with the impossible and worked on getting perfect, covered seats as close as possible to the racing cars and the competitors. The wonder happened, and we would like to thank for so many people for helping us giving this unforgettable journey to the boys.

Thursday - we were a bit frightened as we arrived with Máté, Simon an Krisztián. The weather was muggy, but also rainy. Máté also made jokes, that we’re in trouble, because he didn’t bring rubber sheets for the seats… Well, we were lucky, because the weather stayed affable, while the guys were walking behind the Paddock, looking at the many celebrities. It was a breathtaking treat, being so near to Messrs Webber, Massa, Button and to a lot more champions. We almost had an hour for getting autographs from them and for just looking around.

When our time was over, the Red Bull staff invited us to drink some refreshing swill, so that we can be prepared for our next big journey to the paddock, where the boys could visit the two Red Bull racing cars. We arrived during the assembly and had to give space for the workers to make the last patches. We had a huge luck and perfect timing, because they just pushed in a Ferrari right next to us.

After having some time for "sightseeing", we had to leave the paddock because there was still a surprise waiting for us, „called” Mark Webber. He already met last year some children from Csodalámpa, so he welcomed us as acquaintances. He was interested in our questios and at the end he gave the boys a autographed caps.

On Saturday and Sunday the boys had then the opportunity to enjoy the competition at Hungaroring. It was an unforgettable experience for all of them because they already knew some of the racing stars personally from the Tuesday meetings.

We wout like to express our sincere thanks to the management and staff of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. and Ostermann Forma1 Kft..

Many thanks to the Red Bull Hungary Kft. and Red Bull Racing Teamthat the boys could see all those racing stars and that they could enjoy the Saturday and Sunday races from the very best seats.

Rami has stayed the same vivid, active little girl as she was before her illness and the treatments. As her parents say she has always been full of life. Her wish was a trampoline, because she loves jumping up and down.

When we arrived the little girl was quite surprised, but when we asked her about her wish, she came back quick with the „right” answer. By the time the assembly started she was very friendly and took us in her confidence.

As her wish was fulfilled with the help of Morgan Stanley, two young men of the company, Ádám Hegedűs and Rudolf Réti, were also helping with the assembly. Rami also took an active part in the assembly process...
The trampoline was not quite ready when the girl took charge of it, though I was quite worried that she might fall off.
But fortunately no! As you can see on the picture she turned out to be as good at it as a grasshopper.

The weather was nice to us for a while, but then a short rain came. And since Rami was tired from all the jumping and because she had missed her afternoon nap, she fell asleep fast. After the rain we installed the safety net and tried the trampoline ourselves, to make sure of its safety.

This was a memorable afternoon in Kistelek for everyone involved.

Many thanks to the manegement and staff of Morgan Stanley Hungary Analytics Ltd for their support.

Sanyi is a big enthusiast of revelry music [a speciality of Hungary which is usually played at weddings], so he asked the foundation for the opportunity to meet Adam Fasy and to talk to him for a little while. Unfortunately we couldn’t fulfill the wish last year as Sanyi got a new kidney and we had to postpone making the dream come true because of the surgery. The big boy from Lokoshaza is well now, so it was possible to organize the big event.

We waited for the evening excitedly and even though we got soaked from the heavy rain, our mood remained bright. Adam Fasy was giving a concert during the Rose Festival in Szoreg near Szeged and he was delighted to meet us. Following the nice chat Sanyi was given a dedicated CD and a small recipe book by Mr. Fasy and his daughter. After the concert had begun, Sany and his family were enjoying the music show from the first row.

We are very grateful to Mr. Adam Fasy and the show organizers for making Sanyi’s dream come true.

Little Robi is 3 years old and due to his illness has to spend a lot of time in hospital, lying in bed.

He loves watching and listening to fairy tales and so his wish was a DVD player.
When we arrived and he saw us with the wrapped-up gifts, he immediately reached out his little hands and wanted to get out of bed but he was not allowed. So he started un-wrapping the gifts in his bed and got down to playing with the Matchbox cars he was given as an extra gift with the DVD player.

Robika, enjoy the toys and the lovely tales!

We would like to thank Emese and Janos, who made this happen!

Thirteen year old Dominik, who is being treated by GYEK in Miskolc, wished for a lot of things... Ultimately, he asked for a tablet.

The quiet, unassuming adolescent never asked when the big day will come, but instead waited patiently until the genie of the Magic Lamp granted his wish.

Domi was lying in bed, watching his favorite movie, when I knocked on his door with the package containing the tablet in hand.

  • "How are you?" I asked.
  • "Well!" he replied quickly.

I continued with,

  • "I think you’ll be even better if I give you what the Magic Lamp sent!"

And then Dominik’s face flushed, his eyes got round, and he smiled from ear to ear out of delight.

It was so great to see how happy he was!!!!

Gina had been carving long for a laptop, since amid the prolonged , painful medical treatments in the hospital, her only joy came from the emails and chating exchanged with her family and friends. By a medical examination on a rainy day in May, we managed to surprise her with the laptop of her dreams. Our supporters were the paricipants of the Budapest Santa Speedo Run or Mikuláskocogás, who have always been devoted to fulfill children’s desires. We could count on them this time as well.

Gina, we wish you many happy and useful hours with the laptop and hope you get better really soon!

Thanks all the paricipants of Mikuláskocogás to contribute to Gina’s recovery!

A “What did you wish from the Magic Lamp?” – the 4-year old Blanka answered the question quietly but hopefully:

“I asked for a pony.”

Her timidity was understandable because as her mother said in the past few weeks the little girl had asked every day when she would finally have her own pony?

So it was a big surprise and joy when a few minutes later (of course timing was not a coincidence) a car stopped in front of the house, and a LIVE PONY was walking out of it!!

After the first timid steps Blanka and the little horse became friends in a short time. Soon after they "had a bath together" in the garden pool, as the photos show.

Many thanks for the support of the participants of Best of Budapest Gala!

On 13th June 2013 Janó got his dream-computer from Magic Lamp. This Monday morning was important for us because we could give Janó the little Mac Mini, but it was more important because we could be there when he received the result of the recent medical examination from his doctors. We had good news. Certainly everyone would jump out of his/her skin ... but we had a calmy walk in the city centre, we made an occasion of it with sandwiches and with a great conversation.

In the last few months the teenage boy (who asked us not to take a photo of him only of the present) had major treatments. His parents, sibling and nieces were with him and all of them supported him. They also hope that Janó would use his mini-computer in health and he would at least change the world with his enormous willpower and sense of humour :)

As far as we know, Janó is going to get a keyboard and accessories from their parents soon, so he can do homework and improve his knowledge in the school - in the certain high-level IT class.

The biggest wish of Dominik's life came through just a few days before his 14th birthday, when he traveled to Paris.
Soon his twin brother will travel to Venice to get also his wish granted. The brothers suffer from a similar illness.
They had never been abroad before, but what is even more interesting, they had never spent more than two hours apart from each other. So naturally his twin brother asked Dominik to take lots of pictures, and observe everything very carefully, so when he gets back, he will be able to share all of his experiences with him.

The greatest experience for Dominik was the visit to the Eiffel tower. He watched the evening light show for a really long time. During his stay in Paris Dominik also visited the Notre Dame Cathedral, marveled at the numerous elegant car showrooms on the Champs Elysées, took a boat trip on the Seine, and discovered the boat-lined old banks of the river.

When Dominik got back, the whole family was waiting for him at the airport, and most likely they spent the whole night looking at the photos and listening to the stories of his Parisian adventure.

We would like to thank Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge for its assistance in making Dominik's trip to Paris unforgettable.

Peter is fond of cars and car races, so his wish to the Genie of Csodalampa was a "Car"-themed LEGO set.

His present reached him on a Friday at the SE Pediatric Clinic at Tűzolto street where he is treated.

Peter did not quite understand what was happening; however, he got excited after noticing the package in my hands. I soon learned the breadth of his knowledge about "Cars".

They left for home quickly to start playing together with the new toy.

Noel wished he could visit the Budapest Amusement Park and Budapest Zoo with his father, and spend an amazing day there. After some organization we could fulfill this wish with the help of Fundamenta-Lakáskassza Zrt.

The fun started on a Friday morning in the Theme Park, where Noel tried all the amazing attractions of his interest.
Afterwards we went to the Zoo nearby where the weather was making fun of us as it was raining and we got a bit wet, so we ran into the Gorilla house. We wandered around the park with a roller and with lots of laughing. The house of the lions and "big cats", and the penguins’ residency were our primary destinations.
Meanwhile the fellow-workers of Fundamenta were shooting a video about us to make the day even more memorable. Of courde at the end of our excursion we bought tiny souvenirs to Noel.

We hope we could contribute with an unforgettable day to his life.

Csodalámpa Foundation and the staff of Fundamenta-Lakáskassza Zrt – whose sponsorship made this special wish come true – are wishing all the best to Noel.

Special thanks to Katalin Vojczek and Márton Bock for the organization and their attendance.

Lacika is being treated in Miskolc at the GYEK (pediatric clinic).

He is very active, dancing is his life.
During his treatment he was running around a lot in the hospital as if he wasn`t even ill.

One of his roommates got an XBOX Kinect and he laid an eye on the fancy "tool". Since then, his only desire was to put his hands on one so he also could dance and move in front of the screen.

As the Genie of MAgoc lamp doesn`t know the word "impossible"...

He wouldn`t even want to belive it`s his very own!!
It really has been a breath-taking moment for him when they were unpacking the heavy present with his mother.

Dear Lacika! We wish you cheer and happines in the game. Dance and be active as you wish, but most of all, get better!

Many thanks to the students and teachers of the Thomas Mann Német German School &. Gymnasium of Budapest for granting Laci's wish.

As we got to know Bori’s wish, that she wanted a Barbie ship, we thought this would be easy.

The manufacture of Barbie ship though stopped a long time ago….

After brooding over it a lot and searching on the internet, we have finally managed to get one with all accessories and lots of other additional pieces too among which a barbie boy, Ken, a puppy, its mother with a bone as well as a dog park were the most important.

What is the worth of a Barbie ship without an owner? The genie of Csodalámpa took care of it. Not only a Barbie doll, but a Barbie mermaid was also included in one of the boxes...

Given the size of the ship, we arrived with two huge packages at the university clinic of Tűzoltó street.

The reason for the plural form is that we managed to fulfil this wish with the help of the students of the German School and Thomas Mann High School of Budapest, who were represented by Laura and her mother at the clinic with me.

Bori arrived roller skating on an infusion rack (!) and looked at the huge package wide-eyed…
We did not get her to wait long, but helped her start to open the presents. As she saw the barbie ship, she declared with a big smile that she exactly wanted this Barbie ship.

/ 7

She hardly managed to review all the treasures and Laura’s occasional Barbie expertise was really valuable at the setting up the dog park.

When the infusion was slowly running out and time was flying also while checking all the toys, we left behind a nice Bori with bright eyes in the company of her mother and grandmother so that they could discover together the further secrets of the Barbie ship.

Dear Bori, the members of the Csodalámpa, the students, parents and teachers of the German School and Thomas Mann High School of Budapest, who cooked and baked as part of the „Kuchenbazaar” program to be able to fulfil your wish, wish you a quick recovery.

We thank the students, teachers and parents of the German School and Thomas Mann High School of Budapest for their support on behalf of Bori as well.

Meeting Eszter was a fantastic experience for everyone.

On May 11 we organised a charity run with the participation of parents, teachers and students of the German School of Budapest, where Eszter was also at the start line.
Then the two big boxes containing her eagerly awaited wish appeared. Eszter beamed with joy when she saw the contents.

In reply to our question, who should put together the kitchen for her, she answered the students. Thus it happened that we could again share her joy when she finally became proud owner of her own kitchen.

The most secret of Magdi was a laptop. The young girl has to spend a lot of time in hospitals because of her illness and she needs to stay in bed during treatments.
With the laptop she can watch cartoons or play games, so time spent in the hospital passes faster and is less boring.

Magdi had a big smile on when she saw me in the door of her hospital ward with the laptop. I helped her unpack it and with the first steps and she immediately started watching movies.

Have a lot of fun with the computer, little Magdi!

We met Vivien when her treatment at hospital just has started. So the littlest petshop desired by her so much arrived at the right time.
Thanks to the pets her mood changed immediately and she succeeded in forgetting the treatment, its inconvenience and her discomfort at least for a while.

We wish her good mood and fast recovery.

The very special wish of Gergő was to meet English-speaking children and to learn English. Let's hear his own words:

Why do you like to learn English?

-I have never think about it. Actually I don’t know. Talking English is funny.

How did students of the American International School of Budapest teach English?

- Playfully. Sometimes on Skype, sometimes face-to-face. For example, it was funny to play the game of “Rock, paper, scissors” in English or “Simon Says ...” circle game or the English name of the word cards showing on Skype. I was interesting to match the words and the pictures in the illustrated Hungarian-English dictionary.

I use the plush wolf – that I got for Christmas - every time when I sit down to watch TV, I take it in my lap. We haven’t played the board game yet, but I would be happy to try it with you...

Why are you interested in meeting children of different nations?

- To make me understand with many nations.

Are the students of the AISB (American International School of Budapest) different from you?

-No, they are not. The only difference is that they can speak many languages.

Have you found anything interesting among the AISB’ students?

- At the international festival I tasted many delicious food and I specially liked the almond- apple pie, which we bought at the Russian stand. Students of the school were happy and they enjoyed dancing. I was most inspired by fun and delicious food.

Could you return their kind attention?

-Yes, I said thank you for hosting me at the festival and for the gifts I had got at their visit.

What do you think the children could learn from you?

- How elaborately I speak, that’s all I can.

Many thanks to the students and teachers of The American International School of Budapest for realising Gergő's wish!

Kinga just came out of the hospital a few days ago, but we already had the opportunity to visit her. She immediately examined the requested pink Hello Kitty bike. She beamed with joy and tried it out right away. We thank the students of the German School of Budapest for the fundraising!
