Anita and Bence, two nice and kind kids from different parts of Hungary had the same wishes: they wanted to visit London. And on a nice autumn day their wishes came true.

Their experience began with the flight because it was the first time that they had gone by air. Above London the pilot announced that we had to wait 15 minutes for landing because of the heavy traffic of the airport. During this time, the plane was slowly circling over the sunny city, so we could see all sights from bird's eye view.

By the time we arrived to the hotel it became dark, so we took a taxi and went to Piccadilly Circus to see the illuminated city and enjoy the bustle of the night.

Next day we had a sightseeing tour by double decker. We got off at the Buckingham Palace and watched the changing of the guards. Our next program was the London Eye. Fortunatelly it was a lovely sunny day and we could enjoy the panoramic view of London. Children, as well as the adults were also impressed by the 4D movie about the city.

We planned many other interesting programs for that day, so after lunch we had a short boat trip on the River Thames, we saw the historic buildings of the Tower, then we were walking through the famous Tower Bridge. It took quite a long time, because the kids stopped every minute to take photos. They were impressed by the awe-inspiring sight. And moreover, another interesting program came: we went to discover the HMS Belfast warship which is now a museum. As we left the museum, evening fell, the lights went up and we were amazed by watching the illuminated city, including the Tower Bridge, which - probably in our honour – was lifted. The cameras were often clicked again.
And the kids still did not get tired, they asked us to go back to the hotel on foot in order to enjoy the cavalcade of the London’s night.

Next morning we began the day with a stadium tour. Visiting the Chelsea Stadium was a special request of Bence. Then we went by underground and double decker to get to the long-awaited Madame Tussauds Museum. Certainly the kids enjoyed it very much. Then a short shopping tour was organized in Oxford Street for the shake of Anita. The day - and also our journey – was finished by a fine dinner in a typical English restaurant.

I am sure Anita and Bence enjoyed themselves and they are going to talk about their experience for a long time.

I wish both of them fast recovery and many such lovely journeys in the future.

Bence loves to play with legos. No wonder that he wished for a trip to Legoland...

In October, after many many months of treatments finally he was well enough to get on the plane and start his long-awaited journey. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to Billund Denmark, the capital of Legoland. Thursday morning after a hearty breakfast and a short walk we finally entered the magical land.

Even the showers and the cold weather could not dampen Bence's excitement; he was steering us with great enthusiasm among the many attractions.
First we wondered at the enchanted kingdom of Chima, then we admired the may miniature towns. When it started raining we hopped on the train that took us around Legoland so we could see what other attractions were waiting for us. After the train ride it was time to go to the main attraction, Bence's favourite area, Star Wars land. he was happily marveling at the painstakingly constructed miniature planets, battle scenes, and of course the Millennium Falcon.
After Star Wars we headed for a quick lunch to recharge our batteries, then we headed to the amusement park area, where more fun was awaiting. Bence's favourite ride was the battle of the pirates, where we got on a boat with big water guns, and our job was to shoot at the enemy boats and the snipers hiding on the shore. Of course we were also vigorously shot at, and needless to say that by soon we got completely soaked.

/ 4

On Friday the discovery of Legoland continued. We had to try the roller-coasters, the pumpkin carving, the hot-dogs, and of course the battle of the pirates ride had to be repeated one more time.
We also managed to catch a 3D animated movie about Chima.

But the highlight of the day was still the visit to the Lego store.
After a lenghty process of selection and consideration, Bence left as a proud owner of two Legos. After that we only had time for a quick dinner before taking a taxi to the airport and boarding our flight that took us back into the land of reality.

We would like to thank for the support of Provident Zrt. and the Szabadics family in the name of Bence too.

Vivien’s wish was a lap top. She was waiting for it so much that she visited the website of the Magic Lamp every day.

Vivien had a checkup a few days ago and thanks to the good results she was allowed to go to school. But after lunch she went home, so we visited her at home.

It was a cloudy autumn day when we met Vivien. She was just learning mathematics, that –telling the truth - is not the best pastime. Fortunately, her mother could keep a secret, so our coming was really a big surprise as it could be seen by the little girl's smile. Vivi said that the lap top would help her mostly in her studies, but of course, she would also like to play games and to have fun with it. Vivien doesn’t like to be in hospital, but the lap top can help her to keep in touch with her friends during that time. She feels like being with her friends if her lap top will be there.

Vivi, please always remain such a smiling little girl and we wish you lots of joy to this gift.

We thank the Harvard Krokodiloes acapella choir to support the fulfilment of Vivien’s dream with their concert in Budapest on 30th July and the members of the Harvard Club of Hungary for the excellent organisation.
Special thanks to the A38 to provide the venue for the charity concert.

Panni is a little girl who has been fan of the famous Hungarian singer Ákos Kovács for years. She knows his songs by heart.
Although she has already been at a concert of Ákos, she wished to see the musician at close quarters and to talk to him about his everyday life. With the help of his manager, Ms. Kriszta Fiák we could take part in the sport event of the Telekom Children’s Day where she had an opportunity to meet personally the star at the band’s sound-check prior to the evening-concert.

Ákos greeted Panni very kindly and they were chatting about everything. For example they were talking about the real "cheering" at a concert and about the meaning of three raised fingers: "I love you". Panni has just started school and since she is very fond of drawing, she brought a gift book with her, in which she made many colour drawings about how she had imagined the star at the stage as well as among his family. The pop star was deeply touched by the gift of the little girl, and they were looking at the pictures one by one together.

Of course, Ákos did not come with empty hands, he brought a huge gift bag to his little fan. It was full of CDs, DVDs, posters, a very nice photo book, colour pens and notebooks. So the little girl from Nagykáta was very happy. Finally Ákos had to go to prepare for the evening concert. Later on, Panni enjoyed cheering the concert sitting on his father's neck.

Many thanks to the singer Mr. Ákos Kovács and his manager Ms. Kriszta Fiák for making Panni’s dream come true.

Yet another wish granted at Corinthia Hotel Budapest!

Csabi is a brisk little boy who loves football, knows all famous football players, and loves to play Internet games. It is true that he couldn’t really kick the ball because of the wheelchair and that’s why he asked Magic Lamp Foundation to present a tablet to him on which he can play as if he were on the football field.

Besides football he likes swimming, so the management of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest offered him a two-day stay at the hotel where he and his family could also use the spa and wellness center.
Spending 2 days in Budapest, Csabi enjoyed the hospitality of this beautiful hotel, and it was a good opportunity to get the desired tablet, so from now he can play his favorite games during the long wait of the cures.

We wish to thank the management of Corinthia Hotel Budapest for hosting Csabi and his family for 2 days.

Donat was getting a two-day treatment when we visited him on 20th August.

Our arrival was a surprise because earlier we could not contact him/them to make an appointment.
Donat couldn’t believe his eyes when he came out of his room and saw the Barcelona jersey in my hand. He took the package gratefully, opened the two-piece original T-shirt and admired it.

I had the feeling that the gift helped Donat to forget about the hospital and pains of the treatments for a moment. We hope he was able to sleep better that night…

We wish to thank the management and staff of BWSP Gobert and Partners Law Office for their help to make Donat’s special wish come true.

Well, this is what a real surprise looks like. When András opened the door to us it was only his good upbringing which prevented him from asking us: “Who are you looking for?”.

Only two hours previously he had been discharged from hospital then, not much later, three unknown women were looking for him...
His mother was so good at keeping a secret that she hid the unassembled bicycle in the bedroom to make sure that he would not discover it. We were all together when the door was opened and, just like at Christmas, the young man could not hide his surprise and joy. He inspected the bicycle from all angles and could hardly wait to ride it and go exploring.

Before he could do anything, we bombarded him and his mother with questions about his recovery, his school and his plans for the future.

Hardly had we left than he started his test ride around the neighbourhood. No problem with that provided that the doctor does not know about it!

We wish you a fast recovery, András, and many happy and memorable hours on your new bicycle.

Many thanks to the colleagues of BWSP Gobert and Partners Law Office that they helped make András’ wish come true. Many thanks as well to Emma Edes-Gobert and Tímea Kásler who represented the sponsoring law firm.

It was a beautiful sunny day when I visited Szabolcs. He wanted to get a LEGO railway station. The Magic Lamp could fullfit his wish. When I arrived Szabolcs did not know Ihad in my bag. It was of course his present.

The surprise was great. He did not want to believe his eyes. He began to pack the present box with his brother and they started to build the railway station.

We wish you, dear Szabolcs, speedy recovery and a lot of fun to your new game.

Many thanks to the LEGO Manufacturing Kft. for your help in fulfilling of Szabolcs's wish.

After a lot of researches, we found out children ar not allowed to travel on the the many big riverboats seen in Budapest, so we chose with Sári a hydrofoil trip to Vienna.

It was an wonderful tour, where we had the opportunity to see famous, historical sights, ruined castles and breathtaking climbs. We also had two occasions to sluice; we liked the first one better, which had 18 meters heigh difference...

We spent two days in the beautiful city of Vienna.
We visited the town’s old quarter, walked around in the parks, went to see the Hundertwasser house and Hofburg, climbed up a church’s steps, shopped in Kärntnerstraße and Graben, we also made a trip with a real hansom cab and also visited the famous castle of Schönbrunn and it’s park.
After visiting all these places and trying out a lot of new activities, we went to see, how Boglárka makes the Apfelstrudel, so that we can relax. When we finished eatig, we visited the zoo park, took a walk in the park, tried the famous big wheel in Prater, whirled and still had a little time to try the water spout. We finished our day with a huge Wiener Schnitzel.

/ 6

On Thursday we embarked again the hydrofoil, but this time, in the other direction.
A lot of people say, Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but as we reached Esztergom and Budapest, we decided, we wouldn’t change with the Austrians. The Basilica of Esztergom, the castle of Visegrád and the famous sights of Budapest match with the parts of the world heritage, which we had the opportunity to see.
The best part of our last day was sluicing again, just in the other way. We really enjoyed it.

We hope, we could fully fulfil the wish of Sára.

We would like to thank for the suport of MAHART PassNave Személyhajózási Kft. and EON Zrt whose help made it possible to grant Sari's wish.

We knew, as we sow the forcast for the day shoving 40 C degrees, this is going to be the hardest of the Forma1- wish fulfillments. Three children, Krisztián (18) from Szeged, Máté (7), who is living in Siófok and Simon (14) from the capital had a common wish. They all adore the racing circus, so we battled with the impossible and worked on getting perfect, covered seats as close as possible to the racing cars and the competitors. The wonder happened, and we would like to thank for so many people for helping us giving this unforgettable journey to the boys.

Thursday - we were a bit frightened as we arrived with Máté, Simon an Krisztián. The weather was muggy, but also rainy. Máté also made jokes, that we’re in trouble, because he didn’t bring rubber sheets for the seats… Well, we were lucky, because the weather stayed affable, while the guys were walking behind the Paddock, looking at the many celebrities. It was a breathtaking treat, being so near to Messrs Webber, Massa, Button and to a lot more champions. We almost had an hour for getting autographs from them and for just looking around.

When our time was over, the Red Bull staff invited us to drink some refreshing swill, so that we can be prepared for our next big journey to the paddock, where the boys could visit the two Red Bull racing cars. We arrived during the assembly and had to give space for the workers to make the last patches. We had a huge luck and perfect timing, because they just pushed in a Ferrari right next to us.

After having some time for "sightseeing", we had to leave the box street because there was still a surprise waiting for us, „called” Mark Webber. He already met last year some children from Csodalámpa, so he welcomed us as acquaintances. He was interested in our questios and at the end he gave the boys a autographed caps.

On Saturday and Sunday the boys had then the opportunity to enjoy the competition at Hungaroring. It was an unforgettable experience for all of them because they already knew some of the racing stars personally from the Tuesday meetings.

We wout like to express our sincere thanks to the management and staff of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. and Ostermann Forma1 Kft..

Many thanks to the Red Bull Hungary Kft. and Red Bull Racing Teamthat the boys could see all those racing stars and that they could enjoy the Saturday and Sunday races from the very best seats.

Rami has stayed the same vivid, active little girl as she was before her illness and the treatments. As her parents say she has always been full of life. Her wish was a trampoline, because she loves jumping up and down.

When we arrived the little girl was quite surprised, but when we asked her about her wish, she came back quick with the „right” answer. By the time the assembly started she was very friendly and took us in her confidence.

As her wish was fulfilled with the help of Morgan Stanley, two young men of the company, Ádám Hegedűs and Rudolf Réti, were also helping with the assembly. Rami also took an active part in the assembly process...
The trampoline was not quite ready when the girl took charge of it, though I was quite worried that she might fall off.
But fortunately no! As you can see on the picture she turned out to be as good at it as a grasshopper.

The weather was nice to us for a while, but then a short rain came. And since Rami was tired from all the jumping and because she had missed her afternoon nap, she fell asleep fast. After the rain we installed the safety net and tried the trampoline ourselves, to make sure of its safety.

This was a memorable afternoon in Kistelek for everyone involved.

Many thanks to the manegement and staff of Morgan Stanley Hungary Analytics Ltd for their support.

Sanyi is a big enthusiast of revelry music [a speciality of Hungary which is usually played at weddings], so he asked the foundation for the opportunity to meet Adam Fasy and to talk to him for a little while. Unfortunately we couldn’t fulfill the wish last year as Sanyi got a new kidney and we had to postpone making the dream come true because of the surgery. The big boy from Lokoshaza is well now, so it was possible to organize the big event.

We waited for the evening excitedly and even though we got soaked from the heavy rain, our mood remained bright. Adam Fasy was giving a concert during the Rose Festival in Szoreg near Szeged and he was delighted to meet us. Following the nice chat Sanyi was given a dedicated CD and a small recipe book by Mr. Fasy and his daughter. After the concert had begun, Sany and his family were enjoying the music show from the first row.

We are very grateful to Mr. Adam Fasy and the show organizers for making Sanyi’s dream come true.

Little Robi is 3 years old and due to his illness has to spend a lot of time in hospital, lying in bed.

He loves watching and listening to fairy tales and so his wish was a DVD player.
When we arrived and he saw us with the wrapped-up gifts, he immediately reached out his little hands and wanted to get out of bed but he was not allowed. So he started un-wrapping the gifts in his bed and got down to playing with the Matchbox cars he was given as an extra gift with the DVD player.

Robika, enjoy the toys and the lovely tales!

We would like to thank Emese and Janos, who made this happen!

Thirteen year old Dominik, who is being treated by GYEK in Miskolc, wished for a lot of things... Ultimately, he asked for a tablet.

The quiet, unassuming adolescent never asked when the big day will come, but instead waited patiently until the genie of the Magic Lamp granted his wish.

Domi was lying in bed, watching his favorite movie, when I knocked on his door with the package containing the tablet in hand.

  • "How are you?" I asked.
  • "Well!" he replied quickly.

I continued with,

  • "I think you’ll be even better if I give you what the Magic Lamp sent!"

And then Dominik’s face flushed, his eyes got round, and he smiled from ear to ear out of delight.

It was so great to see how happy he was!!!!

Gina had been carving long for a laptop, since amid the prolonged , painful medical treatments in the hospital, her only joy came from the emails and chating exchanged with her family and friends. By a medical examination on a rainy day in May, we managed to surprise her with the laptop of her dreams. Our supporters were the paricipants of the Budapest Santa Speedo Run or Mikuláskocogás, who have always been devoted to fulfill children’s desires. We could count on them this time as well.

Gina, we wish you many happy and useful hours with the laptop and hope you get better really soon!

A “What did you wish from the Magic Lamp?” – the 4-year old Blanka answered the question quietly but hopefully:

“I asked for a pony.”

Her timidity was understandable because as her mother said in the past few weeks the little girl had asked every day when she would finally have her own pony?

So it was a big surprise and joy when a few minutes later (of course timing was not a coincidence) a car stopped in front of the house, and a LIVE PONY was walking out of it!!

After the first timid steps Blanka and the little horse became friends in a short time. Soon after they "had a bath together" in the garden pool, as the photos show.

On 13th June 2013 Janó got his dream-computer from Magic Lamp. This Monday morning was important for us because we could give Janó the little Mac Mini, but it was more important because we could be there when he received the result of the recent medical examination from his doctors. We had good news. Certainly everyone would jump out of his/her skin ... but we had a calmy walk in the city centre, we made an occasion of it with sandwiches and with a great conversation.

In the last few months the teenage boy (who asked us not to take a photo of him only of the present) had major treatments. His parents, sibling and nieces were with him and all of them supported him. They also hope that Janó would use his mini-computer in health and he would at least change the world with his enormous willpower and sense of humour :)

As far as we know, Janó is going to get a keyboard and accessories from their parents soon, so he can do homework and improve his knowledge in the school - in the certain high-level IT class.

The biggest wish of Dominik's life came through just a few days before his 14th birthday, when he traveled to Paris.
Soon his twin brother will travel to Venice to get also his wish granted. The brothers suffer from a similar illness.
They had never been abroad before, but what is even more interesting, they had never spent more than two hours apart from each other. So naturally his twin brother asked Dominik to take lots of pictures, and observe everything very carefully, so when he gets back, he will be able to share all of his experiences with him.

The greatest experience for Dominik was the visit to the Eiffel tower. He watched the evening light show for a really long time. During his stay in Paris Dominik also visited the Notre Dame Cathedral, marveled at the numerous elegant car showrooms on the Champs Elysées, took a boat trip on the Seine, and discovered the boat-lined old banks of the river.

When Dominik got back, the whole family was waiting for him at the airport, and most likely they spent the whole night looking at the photos and listening to the stories of his Parisian adventure.

We would like to thank Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge for its assistance in making Dominik's trip to Paris unforgettable.
