We’ve left home to go Szombathely on Saturday morning to surprise little Oliver.

Oliver is 4 years old and he was diagnosed for r*** c**** when he was only 9 month old. The treatment was successful; thank God he has been asymptomatic.

His wish was to get his own playground in their garden.
While he was sent to his grandparents we have had it set up for him.

The happiness on his face has made our weekend full of sunshine as well. He and his brother have tried out the new toy immediately...

I hope that I will have more opportunity in the future to make o lot of kids like Olivér’s wish come true.

In Oliver’s name we wish to make a special thank you for our junior supporter Sadie.

Her story on it:

A few years ago I was in a special situation and got 500.000 -ft.

I’ve chosen to use up most of the money to help sick kids and teenagers who are unable to have a normal childhood because of a serious disease.
I would like to make their wish come true and make them happy.

With the Magic Lamp Foundation’s help I’ve already helped 2 people.
One of them is called Dani the other one is called Csongor.

Dani’s wish was to go to Formula-1 race and meet some of the drivers. He is 17 years old and has a very serious case of M***a g***s , since he is 13. He is a very nice boy who even helped homeless people when he himself was in a worse condition. He is now much better and hopefully he will be able to live a long life with help of all the medications.

Oliver is 4 years old and he has r*** c***. He has had bone marrow transplantation at the age of one.
Now he is better, but still has to go for control every 2 month. He and his family have moved into a new home and Csongor’s wish was to get his own playground in their garden. His wish will come true next week when my family and I will go to Szombathely to help to set it up.

I hope I made them happy and they will live a long and healthy life.

8thAugust

Dani had his big day on Friday at the Formula 1 where he could follow the event through the whole entire weekend. His ticket was for the seating area under the roof so the hot sun was no problem at all.

Dani was really interested in the mechanics’ work in the box and he could follow through the first free style training in the home straight line.

What came after this was the real surprise for Dani : we have got to be the guests of the Williams Martini Racing team, we could walk through the paddock and had a cold drink with the team. We saw the GP2 free style training from here and saw the work in the box from up close.

Dani had another big surprise this day: he got to meet Felipe Massa and the head of the team at the motor home. He received a signed cap and we took a picture with them together.

/ 4

Saturday and Sunday was a lot of fun, Dani had a lot of exciting moments following the race. We saw how Damon Hill and Jonny Herber – now as SkySports commentators - were making the reports. We have even got an autogram from Jonny Herbert.

These 3 days have been an unbelievable experience for Dani (specially the Paddock visit!) and he would like to thank everybody who has helped to make it possible for him.

József wants to be an architect.
Certainly, first he has to finish his studies at the secondary school, he has to pass the final examination, and after that he can aim the architect or static faculty of the Budapest University of Technology.

Several months were missing from József’s studies due to his illness but he is about to compensate the time lost and the missing the school-work. He has already passed many exams because he doesn’t want to repeat the school year.

He really needs a well-functioning laptop for his studies, so it was evident that he would ask for a laptop. Beside this he will also have different computer science exams, exatly seven times...

Luckily a nice sponsor appeared very soon to fulfill his wish, so we had to arrange only the personal meeting.
His father, also József told us, that they had medical examinations in the hospital only once in every two months and the last one was a few weeks ago, so the next trip to Budapest is due in July. When he found out why we had asked it, he told us that they would come to Budapest with pleasure at one of the weekends as it would not be possible on weekdays due to the exams.

We were looking forward to the date of our meeting. The sponsor of the wish was represented by Zsuzsa and Zoltán. We met at the Szamos Confectionary to have some nice cakes and to fulfill the wish.

Józsi was very happy to get the laptop, and he specially liked its silver-grey colour. He was talking about his plans and his hobby which is folk dance.
The time was flying quickly, we were talking for almost two hours.

We hope that the laptop will be a great help in his studies and his forthcoming exams. We wish Józsi a speedy recovery.

Many thanks the Head of Unit, UNHCR Global Service Centre for their support
and for the presence of Mr. Zoltán Scrivener at the fulfillment of the wish!

Gergely’s desire was to get a really good telephone. When we asked him about his wish, he answered that he would need it in order to keep in touch with his mother, his family and his friends.

Geri had no idea about the surprise that was prepared for him by the students and teachers of the Britannica International School. His mother, Szilvia told him that they would go to visit a school, but she didn’t say anything else.

The usual weekly meeting for students and directors began with an interesting announcement, namely that a new student would come for a short time.
The students handed over the much awaited telephone to Geri and he was greeted with applause. The boy couldn’t say any words but his smile and shiny eyes showed that he was touched.

We wish you to get well soon and have lots of friends by using your new phone.

We thank for the support of the students, their parents and teachers of the Britannica International School on behalf of Geri, too.

Eszter asked for a toy pony-bike from the Magic Lamp. She was waiting for the present exited because she would like to ride it in her room.

She was invited with her parents to the Britannica International School for their weekly meeting on May 09. 2014, where she was met by about 200 students...
At first she thought that she will only be shown around the school but when she heard her name she felt that all this might be something else...

Then a few uniformed girls and boys pushed in a big box.
The students helped Eszti to unpack the box and it turned out that the pony-bike was hidden in it.
The toy pony whinnied joyfully when it saw her new keeper. Eszti began to ride at that moment very happily.

We hope this present help her to recover fast.

Thanks to the students, teachers and parents of the Britannica International School of Budapest for helping to fulfill Eszti’s wish.

Our small team, Bence, Janka, Kati, their accompanying parents and we (two representatives of the Magic Lamp Foundation) met at the airport in the morning of 24th April 2014. It could be seen from the first moment that we would create a good team, and it was proved by the four eventful days that we spent together. Even the flight and the accommodation at a hotel were a great and new experience for the youngest girl, but the lively bustle of the Charles De Gaulle Airport after a pleasant flight was amaizing for the others too. We stayed at Hotel Pavillon Nationale.
After a quick lunch we set off to explore the wonderful sights of Paris. It was a new and exciting experience for all of us to discover the “underground” world of Paris, namely to find the way among the 14 metro and the 5 RER lines.
The most outstanding event of the first day was a cruise on the Seine river to see the main monuments of the city center. (Notre Dame, Musée d' Orsay, Petit Palais, Grand Palais), then we looked at the Arch in the Étoile Square.

Second day our team was divided into two parts. Janka, Bence and their parents went to discover the attractions of Euro Disney, so the children’s great dream came true during the all day journey when they could meet characters and heroes of fairy tales, play with interesting and exciting games, and admire the special attractions of the park, as the famous Castle.
Kati, her mother and I went to discover the beauties of Versailles. We were not only impressed by the beautifully furnished rooms of the palace, the fountains and sculptures of the park, but also by the Little Trianon Palace, and Marie Antoinette's world.

On the third day many sights were still waiting for us. During our walk we visited the Notre Dame, the Sainte Chapelle, we went up to the Eiffel Tower by elevator, from where - despite the drizzling rain – beautiful view of Paris could be seen. In the afternoon we visited the Louvre, we were walking in the Tuileries Garden and in the Place de la Concorde.

We had already got a lot of beautiful and unforgettable experience by the morning of the fourth day when we were waiting for departure and waving goodbye to the French capital.

We thank for the help of our sponsors E.ON Hungária Zrt. and Morgan Stanley Magyarország Elemző Kft. to make the dream of Kati come true.

Diary of Picur
(excerpts)

  • Pécs, April 11, 2014

So, this is the end of the world! I have already heard from document films that according to the human nature some people can’t think and act rationally, but I have never thought that it could also happen to my reliable owner.

I was half asleep when I heard her talking to her girlfriend that I would be given as a present to a little boy who really wants a white cat (as if I'd be just a white kitten...) I also heard that someone from Budapest will come and take me on Friday afternoon.
I hope it was just a nightmare ...

  • Budaörs, 12 April, 2014.

It was a terrible night. I cannot remember I have ever experienced such a terrible thing.
Actually, yesterday afternoon two people came with a basket, and without asking me, but with the permission of my owner, they put me in the basket, and it took us for hours in a jolting big black box to arrive at a strange house.
I found there unknown scents and places, smaller and bigger persons trying to get pet me, but of course they could not get even near me.
As soon as I had an opportunity, I ran into a corner and turned my shapely hind quarters towards them to look at it if they want.
I got to eat and drink, even a cat toilet was given, but certainly I don’t yield to anyone...

  • Kistarcsa, 13 April 2014.

I have arrived! This morning, I did not think that I would find a home again, but there are miracles! I haven’t thought it a few hours earlier in that strange house where I found a perfect hiding place for the night. At that time I believed that I would spend the rest of my days there. This holy place was the rearmost corner of the kitchen cupboard, that could be approached by a small gap, and it seemed to be a really safe place.
I did not expect that the domestic "big man" breaks down the front of the furniture in the morning, mumbling many interesting words while the blonde woman is dancing restlessly around him and repeating that "Get it out, because we have to go ..."

How good it was that finally I was taken out of it. I have to admit that I was terribly wrong when I believed that I had been captured by animal kidnappers who wanted my life and honor.

Fortunately, I was not even close to the truth. After a short drive we arrived at a different place where two other strangers were waiting for us (as it turned out they were waiting only for me!) with great love. They let me alone in the box for a time to look around (the only annoying thing was a strange black animal, like me who was continuously going around me and trying to frighten me).

However, after a while I was taken out of the box and I could get to know my new friend, my new owner, Zsolti, who is ill and lying in a big white bed and I have already known that he needs me too, in order to continue his fight against the illness.

From now on I will also take care of him, and I have already reserved my place at his feet (although I fear that I will have a little conflict with the black rival for the place), and from there I can keep a close watch on him in order to save him from the attack of his enemy, the Disease!

25thMarch

Alex used to live the busy life of teenagers, and exercised regularly, but his illness put an end to all of it, and instead came a series of endless hospital treatments. He won’t be able to go to school for a while, so he is trying to keep up with his school work through home-schooling. To make studying easier he wished for a laptop from Csodalámpa (Magic Lamp).

As usual, we needed a sponsor to help us granting Alex’s wish. Help came from an unexpected source: organizers, sponsors and participants of a conference joined forces to make Alex’s dream come true. We asked Alex’s parents to bring him to the conference so we can give him the laptop right there.

Alex’s mother did an excellent job keeping him in the dark, thus Alex was totally surprised when they arrived at the conference, sat down in the audience, and suddenly he saw Csodalámpa’s film running on the screen, and he was called up on stage. Not only he was suprised but moved to tears. He was fighting back his tears as he stood on stage holding his brand new laptop, and thanked the people in the room for their kindness.

We would like to express our deep and hearfelt gratitude to the Professional Women's Association and the Corinthia Hotel Budapest for organizing the conference and providing the venue, and to the participants and sponsors of the conference for making Alex’s dream come true.

Marci is a very special young man. Although due to his illness it is not easy for him to keep up with his classmates in school, he still managed to achieve 82 per cent on his high school entry exam. That was almost double of the average score!
Fantastic! So we weren't surprised at all when he gave us a detailed description of the laptop he wanted. He wished for a laptop so he can surf the Internet and and learn more about the things he is interested in.

We had bought a special SW for for the brand new laptop too, and we had some trouble installing it .. so this wish granting did not go smoothly.
Luckily the managing director and her colleague were present, and quickly phoned for help. Soon the problem was solved and the laptop finally started up.
From that point Marci took over and soon the machine came alive. Magic happened once again, and the world suddenly opened up as he was finally surfing the net.

We would like to thank the Váci utcai Bevásárlónegyed Nonprofit Kft. for for organizing a fundraising campaign to collect the money for the laptop. We would also like extend our gratitude to Michael Carroll, managing director of the Váci utcai Bevásárlónegyed Nonprofit KFT and Viktória Figuly for their presence at the wish granting.

Köszönettel: a T*** család

Georgina wishes for an electric piano from the Magic Lamp. Gina has been studying music for a while, but now she would like to take her studies more seriously and learn to play the piano.

Gina and her little sister had been waiting for us with a great excitement. When we arrived with the huge box, they happily danced around us, then enthusiastically helped to unpack the piano. After the piano was put to its place in Gina room and plugged in, she sat down quickly to try it out.
After that the two girls entertained us with an impromptu concert of their favourite songs.

We wish Georgina to find great enjoyment in her new piano.

Barbara wished for a professional camera from Csodalámpa. Although she wants to be a dentist, she also loves taking pictures and would like to become a nature photographer. Barbi had been eagerly waiting for her camera. We wanted to surprise her and we showed up unexpectedly in the Tűzoltó utca hospital but of course we could not fool Barbara. She knew right away why we had come. Her eyes lit up that her dream finally had come through.

She excitedly opened the box, turned on the machine right away, and soon the first pictures were taken. We wish Barbi lots of success with her future endeavor as a photographer, and hope that in a few year we can see her photos at an exhibition.

Bence wished to get a laptop, and thanks to the help of our supporters his wish could be fulfilled just before Christmas.

Bence has a dialysis treatment twice a week at the SE 1. Pediatric Clinic in Bókay Street. We love surprises… so we thought that during the few hours long treatment Bence’s joy would be even greater.

Bence was very happy when he saw the laptop. He didn’t expect to get such a large screen and in all respect a gorgeous model.
Earlier Bence and we were talking a lot about his wish. First he wanted a drum kit but later on he thought that a laptop would be more useful because of his illness.

Warm wishes for a speedy recovery and we hope that the brand new laptop will bring you lots of joy and happiness.

Zsófi travelled all the way from Kalocsa to Nagykovácsi so that the students of the American International School of Budapest could grant her wish that she had asked Csodalámpa Alapítvány for.

On the stage stood a friendly young lady (Zsófi) who had asked for a laptop as she was in a special IT class and could perform the tasks better on a laptop. Furthermore, keeping in touch with her friens and having fun is much more simple with it.

The students greeted her warmly in the cafeteria and guided her round the school. They showed her the theater hall last, where they presented her with her gift as part of a short show.

Zsófi and her dad very much liked the school and were really satisfied with the organisation of the event. They would like to thank all students, teachers and our staff for granting her wish this way.

Many thanks goes to the students, their parents and teachers of the American International School of Budapest in the name of Zsófi too.

The biggest dream of the 14 years old soma was a real, ACER Aspire laptop. Soma had been wantig this machine for quiet a long tome, since it would ease his studies and would also help him to keep in touch with his friends and school.

When he got an invitation from the students of the American International School of Budapest to their meeting on the 20th of November 2013., he didn`t suspect what was the real reason of the invitation.
He tought that the students only wanted to meet him to get to know him, and to find out why he`d wished for a laptop.

Soma is a very nice, interested and open-minded guy. His self-consciousness at the begining was soon gone, when he saw the tons of smiling faces. Mr. Marc Lavoie and the representatives of the students council warmly welcomed him, and he watched the entire ceremony from the stage.

/ 3

The highlight of the get-together was the couple of minutes, when in the name of older students three of them handed over the magnificent laptop, and as the students watched Soma`s joyful smile, they all stood up whit their hands forming a heart, as an expression of their love. After the ceremony we were given delicious meal and pastries, and then Soma immediately started to operate the machine. He could hardly be seperated from it.

We hope that the laptop will provide you many joyful hours!

Many thanks go to the students, teachers and parents of the American International School of Budapest for their support in granting Soma's wish.
