14thJune

Dóra,Timi and Lili didn’t know each other till June 2010. They only knew that all of them were fond of dolphins. It was a big surprise for them that they could travel together to get to know their favourite animals.

The journey began with a „preliminary” adventure, since Dóri lived in Felsőzsolca and that time this settlement was a floodplain, almost totally blocked from the outside world. We had some worries about how to „rescue” her from home but nothing could be impossible for her parents and relatives. With a long detour, but Dóri also arrived at the airport on time.

Timi had difficulties with the last medical checks but finally she got the permission. Her doctor was also of the opinion that dolphins could only help the girl.

Lili took swimming lessons in case if she would have an opportunity to swim together with the dolphins.

Our plane to Rome took off on Saturday morning.
Mothers of the children as well as I thought that kids would like to have a rest at the hotel because they had got up very early in the morning. Certainly we were wrong. After a few minutes – according to the request of the kids – we went to visit the capital.
We were walking to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, we had lunch in a local restaurant, we went to the Pantheon and of course we couldn’t miss a Disney Shop.
We were very happy but tired when we went to bed that evening.

On Sunday our destination was Torvalanica, where the Italian „Dolphinarium” was built in 2006. It is operated by the Portugees, trainers and dolphins arrived from Portugal. We also got to know the fact that dolphins didn’t swim in the „sea” because its water became very cold in winter and the animals could get ill. Therefore pools should be permanently heated in winter-time.

Right after arriving we looked at the performances, we saw dolphins, seals, a lot of birds and the water slides of course. We didn’t know where to run to see all attractions.

/ 7

Fortunately we were farseeing, so children could go even to swim. They asked us to stop at the beach on our way home since they had never seen the sea.
Unfortunately we had to postpone the „stroking of the dolphins”, because the appointment when the kids could visit them alone was arranged by Tuesday.
We were delighted to see the incredible attractions of the animals and to take photos of them, to ride the roller-coaster (and to survive it), to have fun in the amusement park, to swim in the sea and to collect shells. Everybody was very tired in the evening - namely the mothers – but kids were talking till midnight, they were looking at the photos and preparing for the next day.

On Monday we left for a sightseeing tour again as requested by the children. We visited Piazza del Popolo where the sun was shining so strong early in the morning that Lili, Timi and Dóri began interested in the fancy parasols sold by the local vendors. Soon we made a bargain with them and ten minutes later all of us went on with a new parasol.
First we visited the Church of St. Pietro in Vincoli to see the statue of Moses. Everybody liked it. Then we went to the Colosseum and we had a walking-tour there.
We had a fantastic lunch. When the waiters saw the pretty girls with us, they served the dishes dancing to be in high spirit.
After refreshing ourselves we went to see Forum Romanum and Bocca della Verita, the so called Mouth of Truth. This sculpture can be found in Church Santa Maria in Cosmedin. It is believed that if one tells a lie with one's hand in the mouth of the sculpture, it will be bitten off. We dared to ask Lili, Timi and Dóri only innocent questions, as: „Did you have a good time here near by the dolphins?” The definite answer was: „Yes, we did.” After leaving the spot we counted whether everybody had got both hands. Then we went downtown. Kids spent the evening with telling stories again and looking at photos.

On Tuesday morning, after a recreaction, our plan was to discover Castel Sant' Angelo, the Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica and of course we had to drop in on the dolphins.
As time went by we came more and more excited. Finally our car arrived to take us to the Dolphinarium.

/ 4

After receiving a warm welcome, we had to leave our packages and rings (not to hurt the skin of the dolphins) then our shoes were disinfected. A few minutes later we were squatting next to King. His name was a hit since he was the biggest dolphin. He playfully followed the instructions of his trainer. We got to know what the dolphins ate, how they were trained and cared for, how we could make difference between male and female, how they were taught when to jump and when to swim. Certainly, after a while King got bored of the long speech, he interrupted and provoked us. Soon it turned into such a discord that we had to send him away. He was offended at this and we had to offer him lots of fishes and pray for his return.
The girls were taught how to „instruct” the dolphins, so King could talk to them, he waved with his tail, he turned round and round, jumped and „laughed”.
It was a great experience for me, too. It is hard to say whether I preferred the attractions of the dolphins or the joy of the children. It makes sense to see their excitement and their joy.
We also got a farewell gift. Large balls with Zoomarine sign on them were given us at the exit. We foresaw it would be a problem to take them home.
Playing with the dolphins was followed by a bit of sliding, skipping and running again. Then we returned to Rome, we went to St. Peter’s Square again according to the request of the kids. Thanks to the kind security guard, we didn’t have to stand in a queue for 3 hours, he allowed us to go to the church to see the Pieta. After that we had to go back to the Disney Shop to buy large bags to carry the ZooMarine balls.

We asked the kids whether they would leave that large balls in Rome but the answer was a disapproval.

In the evening they wished to have dinner at Piazza Navona. Having big portions of spaghetti, tortellini and ice-creams, we were talking about the magnificent moments of the journey.
I think it must have been a long time ago when they enjoyed themselves so much.
Kids started up as they saw the illuminated fountain and the lights, they wanted to walk once again on the bank of the River Tevere. The adults were so tired but the children were still running. It is unbeliavable that we returned to our beautiful hotel as late as 23.00 o’clock.

Next day we said farewell to the hotel and the lovely employees who provided us with all the goodness and kindness during our stay. (We had a King-size beds. Might they name it after the dolphin?)

Our last adventure took place at the airport when raising a laugh the large balls caught in the X-ray-check box . Of course, the size was the problem. They asked me after the second ball: „How many else do you have?” I answered: „Just one more.”

I think these kids haven’t taken part in so many adventures for a long time.

Scientific researches prove that dolphins, like other animals can cure.

We wish Lili, Timi and Dóri to get well as soon as possible and once to have an opportunity to come back to their true friends with their own children.

Many thanks to them and our supporters to allow us this extraordinary experience.

Viktor, as he had wished, could get to Sopron with his family.

They spent the Pentecostal long weekend in the „Town of the Loyalty”. They arrived to Hotel Sopron on Friday afternoon. Even the air was different in this town, which did him good because of his illness.

The little boy had never been abroad, so he was especially happy to spend the Saturday in Austria with his family. This excursion was a big experience. They were in a lake cave and visited a riding hall where they could see the horses and riders just before a race.

On Sunday they had a sight-seeing and they also enjoyed the recreational facilities offered by the hotel: jacuzzi in the Water drop Oasis and all the games of the playground.

On Monday morning they were already on their way home. Time passed quickly in Sopron.

Attila underwent a major operation, which meant that he was unable to mix with other children, so he particulary wanted a laptop that would allow him to keep in contact with his friends and even give him the opportunity to study from home. His dreams could be fulfilled with the help of Accenture GMBH Hungary.
We arranged a meeting on Thursday and Attila arrived with his parents. The company was represented by two ladies.
It was wonderful to see his smile!
Again the present went to the „right” person and gave much happiness. Again, Attila’s modesty touched all of us, which we had laready discovered last Christmas when, knowing that he was ill, he asked for no more than LOVE....
As love is the most powerful gift a family has to offer, he got in abundance!.
We are grateful that we had the opportunity to know them.

Thank you for the support of Accenture GMBH Hungary

Péter longed for a laptop. Before Easter we agreed with his father to meet in Debrecen to give Péter his present.

Péter had no idea why he was having to go to Debrecen. He thought he was just accompanying his father for treatment in the hospital there, which was why he was so happy when he realised the whole point of the journey had been so he could receive his eagerly-awaited laptop.

We wish you the very best of health and every happiness with your new laptop.

Péter’s wish has been granted from the donation of the pupils, parents and teachers of the Budapesti Angol Nemzetközi Iskola.

5 year old Máté sat nervously in his chair. He felt something was about to happen. During his lengthy stay in hospital he had already developed a shrewd sense for when something was wrong. Then he caught sight of an enormous box hiding the LEGO city he longed for. He sat up wearily in his chair and together with his mother tried to work out from the pictures on the front of the box what treasures might be hidden inside.

“Máté,” said his mother, “it looks like there’s even a prisoner in it.”

The little boy was absorbed in the pictures, and leaning back in his chair and with a weary smile on his face he gave thanks for the toy that would brighten up the days of his long stay in hospital.

Újbarok is a quiet little parish 40 km from Budapest, this is were we surprised a young man, who really didn’t count on our arrival. It was no secret anymore that the Wonderlamp would accomplish his request and soon he could play on a new upright piano again.

But what he didn’t know was when exactly this request would come true.

So curiously he came out to the front garden and saw a white butt car stop at the gate, at first he was watching silently as the piano transporters „snatched” the instrument and took it to his room, later he was already smiling. There was only one angry pair of eyes watching us, which indeed was Hedvig the dog’s, who was fearing his place in the room, and was constantly tightly following us round the room.

Tamás sat down to the piano a bit shyly, because a few years had passed since he last played on it, but luckily he hit a few sounds down for our request. He told us that although the old music sheets were still in boxes, as soon as they get unpacked, music again will take a huge part in his life.

Also to help, the shop leader of Fellegi Piano Salon offered to tune the piano up, which turned out to be Tamás’s worthy new instrument.

Thank you again for the Mester Kiadó, for their help to fulfill another child’s dream.

We met Timea and her mother at the Tűzoltó Street Clinic when they were at a control examination.

The mother had kept our secret so well that the little girl had no idea what I could want when I stepped up to them the next time they were at the clinic. She was looking at me with her big eyes.

But when I asked her if she remembered what she had asked from the Wonderlamp she immediately answered: a computer. And when I told her with a smile that this is exactly what I had brought her she jumped and screamed in delight.

Evereybody around us was smiling seeing her great joy, and we learnt from her how many things she will use it for and that it is going to be only hers and nobody else’s.

Timi promised to use itnot only for playing but for studying , too.

May you spend pleasent and useful moments with your new „friend”, Timi.

We are always anxious to know that we hand over our presents at the right moment and the right place.

On this Monday morning (29.3.2010.)somebody else was also anxiously waiting: 9 year old Borsos Norbert who kept asking when his wish was to come true. Our colleagues at the clinic hadn’t revealed anything about the preparations until the Wonderlamp team had gathered in the „wish-fulfilment prepatation center”, that is Lengyel Andrea’s tiny office. This is where we try out all the technical equipments before handing them over to make sure they work. This is where the Czutor Zoli band had tuned the guitars before handing them over to Huba.

The wish this time was not a laptop or a guitar. The weight of the present isn’t small, we hope its healing and joy-bringing effect will be enormous.

When we entered Norbi’s ward at the Szeged Children’s Clinic he was watching TV. We didn’t want to disturb him. But then he turned round and smiled at us .

Norbi was still sitting on his bed when we put his „wish” an X-BOX on his lap. He explained to us what it was for ( to me it looked more like a DVD-player –PC mixture). His excitement grew when 2 games to be put into this X-BOX at home emerged from the package. (Norbi seems to be going home soon.) In the meanwhile Norbi’s grandmother had arrived ,too.

I asked the feted to take a photo of us all if by chance he knew something about these machines, too. Norbi hastily got out of bed admitting that he doesn’t know these kinds of cameras yet but a few seconds later he was happily taking photos of all these known and unknown people eagerly watching on his wishes.

Thank you for the photo, Norbi. May you use the WONDERBOX in good health.

Feri came to the department for a treatment so he wasn’t too happy. He was just occupying his bed when I-together with my little helper, Hanna-stepped in the ward. We got him to smile at us and then we came up with our surprise. He didn’t have to be asked to smile any more, he smiled by himself.

May you use it in good health, Feri.

Noémi wished to have a camera.

Once we arrived at the clinic, she had a bad mood as her lab results became worse. Once she realized we’ve arrived she became very happy and was pleased to take over the presents.

She opened the camera and has immediately tried it. We took some photos, too. It was very nice to see her happiness!

We wish you to get well as soon as possible and we wish you can prepare lots of nice photos.

János has recently been admitted to the Children’s Haematology and Oncology Department of the Debrecen University. The diagnosis got him down and he also had a hard time with the initial treatment.

I was thinking how I could cheer him up and Wonderlamp occurred to me. I told him about the Foundation which was soon followed by a wish. A PS3!

Good luck with it, Jani!

Balázs wished to watch an FC Barcelona game with her sister, Marcsi. After lot’s of arrangements and despite of the volcano’s activity we finally got to Barcelona. On the first day we visited the stadium and the Barca museum, both of these were great experiences for all of us especially for Balázs. We also bought some hooters and scarves and planned the following day while having our dinner.

Saturday morning and early afternoon we made a tour in the city and visited Park Guell, the Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, Casa Batlo and Casa Amattler. After that we arrived to the stadium among the first visitors. After a while the stadium was full, the atmosphere was beyond expression and the big game started. Finally Barcelona won so we were really happy.

After these beautiful days we really didn’t want to come home and we think Barcelona also wanted us to stay as our plane was delayed…

After the game we went to the seaside Balázs also had a little swim in the ice cold water. It was a great experience to see the joy of the 2 kids. We said goodbye with the hope of seeing each other again but in mind we are still in Barcelona.

Patrik is a lively, smiling kid who has thought a lot before making this wish. He has never really been on holiday with his mother, so it was with anxiety he prepared for this holiday in BOBO-land! Huge efforts were made to make this dream come true.

The Family Care Center in Hódmezővásárhely helped with transportation, many thanks for that.
Patrik and his mother spent three unforgettable days in this child-paradise and returned filled with memories.

Little Kornél is a real artist, he is fond of drawing, he likes tales and music, so during our discussion I thought he would ask for a drawing set or a CD from the Jinn of the Wonder Lamp. I was really surprised that his wish was a serious Thomas railway station.
The always playfully smiling little boy accurately explained what the railway station should be looked like, what kind of people should be waiting for the arriving trains. He also told us that after the poor engine got tired during its long journey, it should have a rest in a good place where it wouldn’t get wet and it could sleep a lot.

Jinn tried to find out whether such a real, complete Thomas railway station with a service area could be bought. It turned out soon, that Kornélka gave us a professional description of the toy, he had longed for. So the engine and the small train could leave the toy store. Along its way passengers were taken up and finally the train arrived with a loud hooting to Tűzoltó Street Clinic, where the elegantly dressed Kornélka spent his one-day medical treatment.

It was a big surprise when the little boy saw the present. Certainly, all passengers greeted the new, young station-master. Thomas engine hooted a big in honour of the new manager, and then it could push along with the passengers to the next station.

Afterwards little Kornél, as the manager of the whole railway company, thought that Thomas had got tired because of the long journey, so it was high time to have a rest. He pushed the engine in the engine-shed and said good night.

Soon after I also said good bye to the small boy, who had got a little bit tired because of the treatment and the playing. On departure I asked him for a kiss but he looked at me with his playful smile and told me that he was out of it, it had been taken by the cat. It happens… all right, I will ask for some extra kisses next time.

We would like to thank to PannErgy Nyrt for their support, since with their help another child’s wish could come true.

We saw Daniel and his sister as they were standing on the road and waiting for us. The big gate was open and they were waving, that we should park in. By the time we parked the whole family was standing outside and smiling because they knew Daniel’s wish had arrived, the computer. The children helped to carry the computer in. They fixed the brand new machine together next to an old, small efficiency methuselah.

Daniel was over the moon when he saw the huge LCD monitor, and he tried it out straightaway. Because he has not got internet access yet, he asked me to say thank you to all the founders. The parents promised Daniel as soon as the internet is available in their street, he will also have access to it.

We also suprised Daniel with the Wonderlamp t-shirt. He said this was going to be his favorite shirt, and that he’s going to wear this for the medical checkups as well.

Today it was especially good to be a member of the Wonderlamp Foundation. To see the big happiness of not only Daniel but the whole family was incredible. That computer is in the best possible place ever, the family because of their bad circumstances could not have afforded it.

On 15 April 2010 Angéla received a sparkling phone set from Wonderlamp. It does sparkle like a jewel and is as much as good for skiing but this only turned out later.

While Ági Tatár wish-coordinator and Angéla’s mother were doing the paperwork in the phone shop, Angéla was having a salad (not to salty, of course, because of her kidney) with tea. She could hardly wait to hold her present! She spoke about her kitty that is so white that it cannot be seen in snow and told that the most she would like to listen to music on her new phone.

Angéla was awesome; she showed the shop assistant how to put on the phone cover, saw through the menu, took pictures and had a great time.

We somehow managed to walk over to a nearby pastry shop without Angéla taking her eyes off of the screen of the new pink phone! That was where she learned that there was a skiing game on the phone! Her mother and we watched her face changing while she was having a jump on the snowboard slope or fell in the snow. But the most uplifting moment was her calling daddy on the new cell.

We hope that this phone matching a princess will be health-giving!

Many thanks for Ildikó Mátics Závecz to make a big smile on this little girl's face.

Today a bike with safety accessories was given to Ricsi by us. He was very happy. As he admired with bright eyes out of the ward, while we were wheeling the bicycle in the corridor, he immediately knew that his wish had come true.

Although handover took place in the hospital and Ricsi was on infusion, it couldn’t stop him testing the new bike on the spot, right in the corridor. His mother running after him with the infusion tried to keep pace with the young sportsman.

Besides the bicycle, the safety accessories and some small presents, we also gave Ricsi a photo of the members of Vodafone Hungary – Systems to see the team who provided money for the presents.

Thank you for the opportunity and your assistance to choose the present and organize the handover. It was the first time that we could see happiness of a child due to the fact that our team fulfilled a wish but we hope that happy smile of Ricsi will be followed by other grateful faces.

Thanks to this team for helping us to make a smile on a child’s face again.

We had a meeting with the German teacher at Klaudia’s home in the afternoon on 9th of April. I had arrived earlier in order to meet Klaudia and her family. She was enthusiastic and very excited. It was a sign of her kindness that she was waiting for us with her own making sweets.

Nowadays Klaudia’s hobby has been making pastries. She has serious plans for the future but due to the disease her mobility is rather limited at the moment. In this situation it is a big help for her that she has an opportunity to improve her foreign language knowledge at home.

First meeting became the first language lesson and the schedule was discussed for the next months - lessons will be on Wednesdays and Fridays.

After the meeting on Friday we got the information from the parents that teacher had been very satisfied with Klaudia. This pep and encouragement do well to Klaudia.

On the evening of March 20th 2010 Donát's wish came true at last. He could fly to Dortmund (Germany) to watch live a football match of Borussia Dortmund.

On Friday we flew from Budapest to Dortmund. It was a beautiful day so we had a great view of the city from the sky.
When he arrived he went for a walk around the city. There are lots of local fans of the team so we were not surprised that there were Dortmund relics in lots of shops. By the time we arrived at the hotel Donát had a real yellow and black Borussia Dortmund scarf. Later on we decided to eat a pizza and as I realised that this was Donát’s favourite food we headed to a nice italian restaurant. We went to bed quite early as we were tired from the trip and we had to save our energy for the big day. Saturday we had breakfast in our four star hotel and then went sightseeing. Though there was a slight drizzle it did not bother us while we wandered downtown and walked along the cute tiny streets.

We saw lots of fans and even more shops with Dortmund’s gifts. When we got hungry we ate a kebab at a restaurant where all the other customers were Dortmund fans. Nearly the whole city was preparing itself for the game. Before we headed to the stadium I "had to" hand over to Donát the present of the German Wünsch Dir Was eV. foundation. The name means "wish something"; they are doing the same as Csodalámpa and they have already helped us on previous wish grantings in Germany.
They not only gave us 3 tickets for the game but they sent a Dortmund football strip which was signed by all the players of the team.
Donát was really surpised by the present and he wore it proudly during the game.

At the stadium there was a huge queue outside but we passed it pretty quickly and took our place on the east side, a little bit left from the goal.
There was a frantic ambiance and 80.100 spaectators were following the game live in the stadium. Dortmund was playing against Leverkusen which team is only one place ahead in the ranking, so we hoped to have a really exciting game.
There were no goals in the first half though the game itself was really exciting. The second half was more interesting as Dortmund - with the Hungarian Hajnal Tamás playing - scored 3 goals right in front of us. Donát will always remember the fans and their happiness as Dortmund won.

On Sunday morning we relaxed and after lunch we headed to the airport. We talked a lot about the game we saw the night before and we can say that we have unforgetable memories from the game.
