Have you ever seen children’s eyes sparkling with joy, haven’t you? Milan’s eyes surely were bright when he saw his present. Even his jaws dropped. He saw such a machine in the hospital it was one of his roommates’, and they played with it together. The game made him forget that he is in the hospital, and being treated. On the way home, he asked his Mother to buy one machine, because it’s good to play with. Isn’t this the situation where Csodalampa used to help?

Magic and helpful intentions fulfilled Milan’s wish...

Happy Children’s Day to you Milan!

Lilla’s wish was to visit the PortAventura amusement park near Barcelona and to swim in the see. The wish was granted thanks to the generousity and cooperation of our benefactors.

The journey was a great adventure for the little girl from the first moment to the last. Lilla was very good at finding her way around the amusement park with the map, and planned her time very wisely so she could try everything she wanted to. After a busy day at PortAventura we spent the evening sightseeing in Barcelona. The next day we dived into the waves of the Mediterranean See.

Kevin is in the 4th grade and he lives in a small village close to Budapest. He was thinking a lot about what he should ask from Csodalampa that can be really helpful for him. Finally, he decided to ask for a laptop as it is something his parents can’t afford to buy and it will be very helpful in his studies and to catch-up on classes he missed due to his illness.

As you can see on the photos, he was very happy that his wish came true. He promised he would use the laptop more for studying than playing.

Thanks for the support of the Morgan Stanley Foundation!

Eszter is a very determined 12 years old girl whose whish was a colorful laptop.

On her 12th birthday, we brought the awaited machine to her home.
Her parents tried to keep their feelings secret. After we arrived, Judit came in with Eszter’s favorite chocolate cake. At first, Eszter didn’t think that Csodalampa would fulfill her wish.
When she saw us, she exclaimed: purple laptop!

She began to set up the machine very skillfully. Meanwhile, she explained that it will be used for learning and playing in the hospital, where she spent a lot of time recently. So later on this will help to keep in touch with her family and friends.

The athmosphere of Barceloana fits Eszter’s personality perfectly. She is open-hearted, candid and has an increditbly happy soul. She absorbed the positive vibes of the busy and lively streets of Barcelona like a sponge. We visited the Sagrada Familia, the Park Güell, the Aquarium of Barcelona, and the scenes of the 1992 Olympics, to name a few. Here’s Eszter’s way of thanking us the memorable days:

The 10-year-old Dani is treated at GYEK in Miskolc. He spends most of his time in front of his laptop as he loves playing games on the internet. When I asked him what he would wish for from the Genie of Csodalampa he said he would like a laptop with the newest games on it without hesitation. A Gamer laptop was his dream!

Dani and his mother were very surprised when I entered his hospital ward with a box in my hands. Once he realised what’s in the box he immediately forgot how sick he felt just moments earlier. He was joyfully opening the present containing the laptop he dreamt about.

We turned it on immediately and Dani called his family right away to discuss which games to install. It was great to see how happy he was!

Thanks for the support of the Morgan Stanley Foundation!

Miklós told us about his trip to Rome:

The Italians were really likeable an not just because of their language and their funny gestures but because they are all nice and friendly.
Our accomondation was also very good and what I really liked was the big smorgasbord for breakfast. They served it on the roof of the hotel so we could see the whole city of Rome.
My favourite monument was the St. Peter's Basilica, especially the cupola part where we could go up and could have a look around. It was wonderful.
We really enjoyed the whole trip and it was a fantastic experience for me.

Zita’s thoughts about the fulfilment of her wish:

My wish was to visit Düsseldorf in Germany and to take part in the Japan Day. There were several reasons why I wished so. I am interested in the Japanese culture and art and I am also attracted by Germany. Thus, two of our dreams came true at the same time.

My adventure was begun with an early morning flight on Friday. After a quick breakfast at the airport, our plane took off. I was on the board with my brother and Ms. Éva Batári from the Magic Lamp Foundation. During the flight I took several photos of the beautiful clouds. In Düsseldorf we were accommodated at the Hilton Dusseldorf. The hotel was very nice and the room was really convenient. First we had a sightseeing tour. We had a delicious lunch in the Japanese quarter, then we went to a Japanese department store to buy some snacks, mostly candy, of course. The „Japan Day” was held next day. Lots of people attended, and many of them wore Japanese cartoon character’s cosplays. I also had a cosplay, I was an earl. But before I became an earl, we visited a car exhibition nearby. I really enjoyed walking in the town in cosplay. The atmosphere was very cozy and I also met celebrities which was an unexpected surprise. Fantastic fireworks were the perfect way to end the magical day.

Last day we visited the Benrath Castle where we took part in a tour called "Secret Routes". It was worth seeing! I had never seen a castle, with so many hidden paths and rooms. Interior and the furniture were wonderful. I am afraid this would be my favourite castle.

Thank you very much for this fantastic opportunity and experience.”

It is hard to summarize our weekend because so much things happened to us. Márk travelled from Rudolftelep to Madrid and he got richer with a lot of experiences. Shortly after the initial awe Márk got more and more excited and even the airplane and the hotel in Madrid gave him and his mother many novelty. They both flew for the first time, and they have never been abroad before.
The sightseeing, the stadium visiting and of course the Real Madrid-Valencia match itself enhanced the mood.

We were really looking forward to the Sunday’s match. We enjoyed as the Bernabeu stadium filled with people and then that the match finally started. We had a lot of exciting moments and in the end our team, the Real won by 3:2.
The chilly and rainy weather could not ruin our great time and although we arrived to Budapest wearily, I think these days were unforgettable for all of us.

We would like to thank the employees of Hilton Budapest City and Hilton Madrid Airport that they helped us to fulfil this wish by hosting Márk and his mother.

Thank the Maximize Budapest’s support!

And we would also like to thank Teschler Mónika, who is a volunteer of us and lives in Madrid, for the sightseeing tour!

With the help of a team of selfless and helpful students, the 11 years old Balázs’s wish could be fulfilled. Balázs with the wheelchair wanted a notebook to be able to stay in touch with his friends, family and with the outside world.
Because of the illness, it is difficult for Balázs to get to a lot of places, but with the computer, he can go for a virtual trip in Hungary or even further away in the whole world.

Balázs’s birthday was two days before the gift delivery so we could not miss out to bring a delicious cake to the celebrated. The cake was made by a volunteer from Újszilvás. Balázs didn’t know anything about our arrival so he welcomed us with some teenager confusion. During the gift handover he couldn’t really say anything because of the surprise charm, but his mother and sisters conveyed Balázs’s unspoken words and his happiness.

We wish much pleasure for the notebook and we hope we are receiving soon Balázs’s e-mail from his new computer, which he writes to the Magic Lamp Foundation…

We would like to thank The British International School's students for the support, this wish could not have been fulfilled without them.

It was a beautiful spring day, when in a real team-work we were able to fulfill Marci’s wish. Marci, who has serious hart disease met the foundation’s volunteer in the National Institute of Cardiology. He told the volunteer his secret desire...
He would like a PS4 game console and he fearingly also mentioned that he is a Star Wars fan and it would be good if his wish was fulfilled by Darth Vader himself!

We got to know that the wish can be fulfilled in the region of Szeged, so in the little boy’s residence. The game console was delivered by a courier, but what’s next? There was the hidden request…!
On facebook, I was able to find a fan page and I asked them to help us with this wish fulfilling. I didn’t have to wait long because the Star Wars Costume Fan Club came to our rescue. In a short time we agreed upon a date of meeting.

There was a great excitement in everyone before the event . The members of the Club and the Star Wars Miniatures Portal brought a Star Wars board game for Marci.
The team arrived to Marci’s home where they could dress up, and after that the surprise could begin…
After the first astonishing moments the little boy was talking freely, having fun with Darth Vader, Sand person, Storm trooper and with Boba Fett. The time passed pleasantly and we said goodbye to Marci like this:

“The Force be with you!”

The Force will surely be with him after this experience and it will help him through the surgeries.

We would like to thank Fábián Péter of Star Wars Costume Fan Club, the Star Wars Miniatures Portal and the four well dressed characters for their support.

We would also like to thank the British International School of Budapest of for their support, which allowed us to fulfill Marci’s wish.

Milán’s wish was a new white laptop. We managed to meet him on a sunday afternoon in order to hand over his present. Milán was already looking forward to get his laptop, and he was very happy to get it.

The wishgranting went very well. We talked a lot with Milán, and it turned out that he has many hobbies. His favourites are the Harry Potter books and everything that connects with it, like magic and other curiostities. He even did a quick analysis of our names, and we thanked him for it.

It was a great pleasure for us to fulfill his wish and that we got to know such a fantastic boy like him.
We wish Milán all the best and hope he will have lots of fun with his new laptop.

We would like to thank the American International School of Budapest for their repeated support!

I spoke several times to Gergő because he did not know what to wish from the „gini” of Magic Lamp. At last he decided to ask for an own tablet in order to play or to correspond with his friends.

It was a difficult task for the „gini” to find a super Samsung tablet with appropriate games for Gergő, but the „gini” managed even that.

When we arrived to the Tűzoltó street clinic Gergő was in bed and he was very pale. Even so we could persuade him to come to the dinning room where a big surprise waits for him.

Our supporter Mr Péter Gábriel was standing there with a packet in his hands. A black tablet was in the packet.
Gergő could hardly believe his eyes and he could not utter a word at first in his surprise.
Then he thanked Mr Péter Gábriel and they shook hands with a great smile.

Dear Gergő, we wish you a speedy recovery and and we hope you will enjoy your tablet with the fantastic games.

Many thanks goes to Mr Péter Gábriel for his help and that he gave personally the gift to Gergő.

Sára has been receiving medical care at in Miskolc, and between the treatments she stays at Ronald McDonald House there. She is very mature for her age: she is forthcoming, talkative and interested in all sorts of things. She reads a lot and never feels bored. Her favourite author is J. K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame, and she is also a big fan of Agatha Christie. During our recent meeting, she told us that she had already watched almost all the film adaptations of the latter author’s novels, and that she has them all on DVD.

Asked if there was something she would really like to have – something her parents would find very difficult to buy for her – she said yes, indeed, she would love to own a copy of an Agatha Christie novel autographed by British actor David Suchet, who played Hercule Poirot in those films. The novel should be Suchet’s favourite, and could be in English, she added.

Of course, the genie of Magic Lamp went to work without delay. And in less than three weeks, the signed book arrived from England…

We handed over the present to Sara at the Ronald McDonald House (we hereby thank all the staff for their kind help and support). She got all excited when she saw the small package wrapped in pink foil paper. She unwrapped it with extreme care and her eyes filled with tears when she realised that she was holding the book she had dreamed of for so long…

Mr Suchet did indeed sign a copy of Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders for her and arranged for it to be sent to Sara along with an autographed photo showing him in the role of Hercule Poirot.

Dear Sára, we wish you all the best and we hope that you will find this book - sent to you with so much love by Mr Suchet - compelling and entertaining.

On behalf of Sára, we would also like to thank Mr. David Suchet, the staff of Maecenas Publishing House and Mr Ákos Balogh for their kind support.

Just like many other teens, the 17-year old Boglárka wanted to get her driver's license.
So she looked for the driving school nearest to her, and enrolled. Although she enjoyed the classes very much, the final exam presented quite a challenge...

We wish Boglárka good luck to finish the course and hope that soon she will be a proud owner of a driver's license.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Morgan Stanley Hungary for their generous help with making Boglárka's wish come true.

Saci has played the piano for 8 years. After seeing a concert, she thought that she should switch between musical instruments and learn how to play the guitar. After seeing Steve Vai play, she loved the guitar he played on, a JEM Junior WH Steve Vai Model, and she has asked the Csodalámpa Foundation to get her such a guitar.

Well, this wish was not very easy as at that time, there was not a single piece in Hungary of the model Saci requested. A shipment was on its way somewhere between Indonesia and Germany.
We were in close contact with the manager of Mezzoforte Musical Instruments Store, all the more so as Saci could have been called any minute to undergo a serious operation…

After setting a time to meet with Saci’s parents, we arrived to see the young lady with Mr Ben O’Brien, teacher of the American International School of Budapest, on a sunlit Sunday afternoon. The son of Mr O’Brien represented the students of the School.

Saci was not aware of our visit as we agreed with her parents not to tell her anything as we wanted to give her a great surprise...

It went perfectly. After her father called her in, Saci appeared. She had no idea what all the boxes were about in their hallway.

The secret could not be kept for much longer so we helped her unpack the amplifier and the guitar.
Well, it was amazing how it looked and how it sounded! We attached the guitar to the amplifier and after a short check (what all the switches and the vibrato arm were for) Saci demonstrated and performed what she’d learned during her first guitar lessons.

Well done, Saci!

We could go on about how she felt, how we felt, but her wonderful smile tells it to us all:

/ 3

Upon Mr O’Brien’s invitation, Saci promised when her health allowed it, she would come to the American International School (also in Nagykovácsi) to show how far she’d got with her guitar lessons, and she would show her precious guitar she received thanks to the support of the students and their teachers.

We hope the wonderful guitar will help Saci to have a speedy recovery.

We would like to thank the students of AISB: their theatre performance and donations helped Saci’s wish come true. We would also like to thank the manager of Mezzoforte Musical Instruments Store, Mr Károly Csámpai, for his support and contribution to Saci’s happiness.

Renata is a very kind, genial girl. I visited her in her home with a "small Genie" as help in the name of the Magic Lamp Foundation.

Visiting her and giving her the wished present was rather difficult because she underwent treatments and she came out from the hospital only on 23rd December and she had to go back again between Christmas and New Year’s Eve to the clinic.
So the time went by and january came...

Reni’s wish was a Barbie Doll „with big skirt” and of course with a Barbie-palace. The present was in a big box, Reni unpacked it with great excitement. We took some pictures where it can be seen well, how happy Reni was.

Dear Reni! Your wish was the first in 2016, we have fulfilled. We wish You a Happy New Year and a full and fast recovery! Have a lot of joy with your new toy. We wish you and your family all the best for the future in the name of the Magic Lamp.
(The small Genie I mentioned was Bálint Szécsi, my almost 12 years old son who wanted to help me with a wishgranting.)

Many thanks goes to our supporter Ms Annamária Tamás!

Norbi is a kind, 16-year old teenager, a secondary school student. He and his parents were really surprised by our Foundation’s „make a wish” possibility.
Norbi, as many of the other teenagers, is a mobile phone fan, therefore he asked for an LG smartphone that he had wished for a long time.

Norbi’s wish could come true very quickly with the help of a kind supporters.

The family came to the hospital for consultation, and Norbi knew nothing about the big surprise.

I gave him the gift in the consulting-room. Norbi was very happy and examined the new phone with great pleasure. He could hardly wait to use it.

Regina is treated in the GYEK (Pediatric Center) in Miskolc.
We talk about many different subjects all the time. It’s good to talk to her, as she is a nice, intelligent young girl. Regina is interested in everything and she has an opinion about everything. And what is very important: she has a positive attitude to everything.

When I asked her what would she ask from Magic Lamp, after a moment of thinking she firmly said: an IPhone5 white smart phone.
Then she was blushing and added, "if possible"...

Of course it is possible!

Me and Stella, one of the volunteers of the Magic Lamp Foundation from Debrecen, put on mouth masks and entered Regina's room.
The nurses and the doctors were peeking behind us because they also wanted to see Regina's face when she would see the "white magic" in the small box.

It was a great surprise and joy when we knocked at the door of Regina’s hospital ward. Her mother burst into tears of delight and Regina could hardly believe that she got the iPhone as a Christmas present.
All she could utter was "WOW!!" And her face was shining, her eyes were bright with happiness.

Dear Regina,
We wish you a Merry Christmas in the name of all “Magic Lamp” volunteers! You got the IPhone because you deserved it.
